First of all, THANK YOU to everyone who pledged to the kickstarter campaign! I met my goal of $7,000 so the show is definitely happening on February 24th, 2012. Some people told me they were having problems with the kickstarter site on the last day and didn’t get their pledge in on time. So here’s another chance to donate, buy the iPad/PDF version of the book, or the Limited Edition Book. Payments can be made in person or through Paypal by clicking on the Donate button below.
If you just want to help the project, click on Donate and enter in any amount. Even $1 helps!
These items are still up for sale:
$20 - The Rollerblading Project Book – Digital Edition – A PDF version of the book for you to view on your computer or an iPad version for those of you who have iPads!
$150 - The Rollerblading Project Book – Limited Edition of 50 – Signed and numbered with bonus content not featured in any other version of the book. This is a hardcover 11×13 book printed on premium matte paper. You’ll also receive the Digital Edition of the book. And before the gallery show opens, I’ll give you a personal tour of the show and answer any questions you have!
$500 – I’ll do a photo shoot with you, your family, your kids, or your dog anywhere in the Metro Detroit area (within one hour of Ferndale, MI). Photo shoots can be scheduled any time. All of the photos will be edited and provided to you on a DVD, ready to print or share online. You’ll also receive the Digital Edition of the book.

I’m nearing the end of my project which means I’m starting to plan for the gallery show! Gallery shows are really expensive, and after adding up the costs for the prints, books, gallery, promo materials and more, I had an estimated price of close to $15,000. At this point I realized I would not be able to fund the entire show myself, so I decided to check out kickstarter to help fund at least $7,000 of the show.
What is Kickstarter? Kickstarter is a funding platform for creative projects, allowing me to offer you fun rewards in exchange for your support. Funding is all-or-nothing, so if I don’t raise $7,000 or more within the time limit, I don’t get anything, nobody is charged and nobody can get their rewards.
Why even have a gallery show? I think it would be amazing to see rollerblading showcased in the art world and to expose the general public to a side of rollerblading that most have never seen. As a photographer, being able to see my photos in print and share them in the format of a gallery show is an exciting way to finish this project.
OK, so what do I get out of this? You get a chance to support rollerblading! ……not enough? Ok, we have some fun rewards too. Stickers, prints, limited edition books, private advance screening of the show, photo shoots, mystery toys, and more. Check out the kickstarter page for a lot more info on the rewards!
Hmmm….ok, I’m in. What do I need to do? Click on the link below, watch the video and read the description if you want to hear more about the project and the gallery show. On the right side, choose BACK THIS PROJECT and choose your reward!

Just for fun I had some stickers made for this weekend. So grab a name tag and fill it out if you’ll be at the James Short Memorial Session.
